My Name is Maribel Mondragon Cardenas, I'm 22 years old, I live in Granada Meta; I am a student of Bachelor degree in English as a Foreign Language, I belong to the CEAD of Acacias Meta
My Philosophy of Teaching
My teaching philosophy is based on the conviction that students learn more efficiently if they are
stimulated to be the managers of their own learning process and in which the teacher or instructor is guide, a facilitator. On the other hand, any educational center, whether it is a college (primary and secondary) or a university, should help students to create critical thinking and stimulate their creativity since, critical thinking coupled with creativity, enables the student to do analysis, synthesis and apply the learned in different ways. As a foreign language teacher, I must encourage my students to develop and apply such taxonomic levels (see Boom, Benjamin) in a school environment centered on him.

As a foreign language teacher, I must encourage my students to develop and apply such taxonomic levels (see Boom, Benjamin) in a school environment centered on him.
The student can develop these areas using the foreign language he is learning as a bridge that will allow him to access the culture, literature and history of that language. Reading texts in the target language (L2) allows the student to understand first-hand the idiosyncrasies and fundamental cultural aspects inherent in it and in turn, provides tools to compare the L2 with the L1 in terms of similarities and differences. Understanding the similarities and above all the differences creates in the student a greater awareness of diversity and helps to avoid
discrimination of the other because it is different, since the discriminatory practices are born from the fear generated in the person the fact that the "other is different and this fear in turn, generates hatred, rejection, stereotyping and finally, bullying (bullying ). The best knowledge of those around us, especially in a pluricultural context, allows the teacher and students to expand their worldview by knowing the other culture and the reasons why it differs from their own.
My beliefs about my teachings
Teaching is not an easy task and those of us who have chosen this task know that it has valuable rewards such as the satisfaction that we help and prepare our students to be better, more critical, responsible and aware not only of the world around them but also of the role that fits inside him. Often our responsibility and teaching work are projected outside the classroom and the student will keep as good or bad memory for the rest of his life most of what he received from his (or her) teacher (s). In other words we are sowers of consciousness not only of knowledge. And achieving an effective learning in our students is the best of the rewards and it is this extrinsic retribution that motivates us to improve our daily work as professionals. A teacher should never forget that one day he was a student and it is from there that he should put himself in his student's place in order to satisfy his needs and expectations because the teacher is in a room to share and transmit his knowledge with his students, not for show how much you know before them which is not a challenge to the contrary, it is a useless and shameful practice.
What I learned about teaching speaking skills
It is necessary to develop confidence in the learner so that they are encouraged to actively participate in the constant oral interaction required to develop communicative competence. Greater importance should be given to the improvement of oral production skills through an effective curriculum that involves oral instruction in its design; The development of oral competence in English requires special strategies for the sufferance. Oral expression skills need a series of communicative learning activities, such as filling in empty spaces, games, puzzles, problem solving, performances, among others. On the other hand, a plausible way to achieve the communicative competence of the students are the tasks, since they provoke in the student a need to communicate and create meanings.
What I learned about teaching in online environments
It was an experience full of many emotions; at the beginning of many nerves, since it was my first experience in online teaching, but I can say that it was very nice, as we can be so recursive and use so many online tools, that many times we were not used to doing it; but that this experience allowed us to learn new ways of teaching apart from the traditional one we already know which is in a classroom, to have the opportunity to teach in a different way and making use of different resources, making each activity and shared knowledge became interesting and striking for the students who were part of this great experience.
Very satisfied with a new experience that has a lot to do with what I am projecting, new knowledge that will be very dispensable in my career as a future professional and teacher.
My principles about teaching speaking online (at least 5)
- Punctuality always in the development of the classes
- Respect, before any situation or situation.
- Good communication between Teacher and student.
- Build a good relationship between student and student where mutual trust can be generated.
- Use of tools and strategies that captivate the attention of students during the development of each activity.
- Know the needs and interests of the students, for themselves to know about what knowledge needs to be reinforced and what is necessary to learn.
- Always be prepared with the material prepared for the development of each activity; This is very noticeable by the students.
